The making of the first Digital Asset Manager with TYPO3

Positioning Commerz Real as the digital asset management leader

Commerz Real AG (CR) had an ambitious mission: the relaunch of the corporate website commerzreal.com was to take place within three months.

In cooperation with the communication agency brantec, it was possible to develop a high-performance and responsive website within only 10 weeks, which above all enables a modern user experience and also brings clear advantages for editors in terms of usability and time-saving.

The new website acts as an initial step in the customer's digital strategy to position the CR as the "1st Digital Asset Manager" and to distinguish the company through current and relevant content.

Ingeniously simple and efficient solution approaches

With the upcoming repositioning, the following core questions arose, which had to be answered in the course of the relaunch:

  • How can CR actively shape their communication?
  • How can we position the CR as the "1st Digital Asset Manager"?
  • How does CR achieve emotionalization among their target group?
  • How does CR establish the external communication of CR in the procurement of information for the target group in investments?

In order to fully address these issues, a design-thinking workshop was initially conducted with the design agency and test users. The results were then translated into concrete project requirements that formed the basis for the growth-driven design.

Due to the very tight time frame of only ten weeks for the CMS migration, the project had to be completed very quickly. comwrap designed its own Atomic design workflow to provide content elements.

Results

During the technical implementation, the outdated TYPO3 version was updated to TYPO3 8.7 LTS and the designs were converted into a manageable number of content elements, which were then made available to the editors.

As a result, the external image of the Commerz Real brand was comprehensively modernized. The results of the design-thinking workshop resulted in clear structures for an optimal user-journey and the CI of the brand could be emphasized by the new imagery. The corporate website fully supports the repositioning of Commerz Real and thus forms a solid basis on the way to becoming the "1st Digital Asset Manager".
